Riya leaned a little closer to the mirror, examining her reflection intently; that is, as far as anyone else could tell. Her eyes were focused elsewhere, however. She brushed at an imaginary spot on her cheek as she watched the woman behind her, waiting until she disappeared into a stall before she dropped the pretense and turned around.

There was no one else in the restroom, and she kept it that way, reaching over to lock the door with a silent twist. That accounted for, she perched herself on the edge of a sink, folded her arms across her chest, and waited.

The toilet flushed, the woman opened the stall, and it only took her one look at Riya to know that there was something wrong.

"Excuse m--," she began, but Riya was not in the mood for pointless conversation. "Who are you." The woman blinked, then seemed to gather herself, and straightened. "I don't see how that is any of your busi--"

"You are with Ejan. Who are you."

The woman looked surprised for a moment, but something akin to smugness replaced it almost immediately, and she smiled. "I'm Annette. I'm his date." There was a challenge to the tone, as if Riya were the jealous ex-girlfriend, and Riya raised an eyebrow. "No, you are not."

And then she shot the woman.

Admittedly, it was with a tranq pistol, not a real one, but it was satisfying nonetheless. Killing the woman over a date would have seemed... excessive, and Riya did not like to think herself as someone who would take such a small slight to extremes. In most cases, anyway.

She dragged the woman to the end stall, locked it, and put a neatly lettered Out of Order sign on the door. Then she checked her reflection again, smiled slightly to herself, and strolled out into the restaurant.

There you are...

He was seated in a far corner, looking out the window beside him and tapping his fingers lightly against the table. It was the first time that Riya had seen him in over a year, and she couldn't help but look him over as she walked toward him. He was the reason why she was here, the reason she had come out of hiding; it was because he was trying to find her, she told herself, and she was tired of being followed. Perhaps if she told him to go away in person, he might actually take her advice.

Or, she wouldn't admit, even to herself, perhaps she just wanted to see him again.

She slid silently into the seat opposite him, and he glanced up, obviously expecting his other companion. The surprised recognition in his eyes, the shock, it made her own eyes fill with amusement, and the corner of her lips twitched.

"Hello," she said. "It has been a long time, Ejan."
