Emotions Legend
Asmodeus (Dec 11, 2001 12:23 a.m.): Even after years of separation and lesson upon lesson in rigid self-control, Kat could still call out his darker side. He lay next to her in the dark, closed his eyes against the soft rasp of her tongue on his skin and tried to decide how to feel. Hatred? Never. Anger? Perhaps...but what right did he have to be angry with her? Everything he said, everything he did, everything he thought, it was all his responsibility, not anyone else's. How about some of the less attractive options, Nathan? Relief, maybe, that she withstood you like that and still loves you? Not likely. She's taken worse. How about satisfaction? Is there a point in lying to yourself? Is there salvation in denial? He grit his teeth until they ached and the pattern of thought slowly faded away, and he replaced it with consideration for her request instead. She wanted to come. She wanted to see. He could give her that. An audience would keep him in check, even if it was Katera, and that was comforting to him - and he wanted her to know that she was safe. He didn't want her to have to take his word for it. His own response to her aggression had sorely shaken his faith in his ability to control himself. He wasn't sure he wanted her to trust in him. It was for this reason that he tried to pull away a bit roughly. He almost wanted her on guard. Promise me that you won't let me hurt you, Kitten. The roughness failed, and he sighed and nodded, kissed her cheek before sitting up. He couldn't be rough with her now. Before she'd almost seemed to want it. Now it seemed out of place, and he did his best to put it out of his mind as he typed a concise set of orders into his desk and sent them off. That helped to focus him on the task at hand instead, and by the time he was done and dressed he was calm and cool, ready to do what was to be done. Ready for Robert Quistin. He waited until she was dressed as well. There was no need to hurry; the MPs would probably have quite a time collecting the Captain without violating any of the rules he had laid down, and he wanted everything to be in place by the time he arrived. He was uncomfortably aware of how eager he was for this encounter, but that very eagerness dampened his discomfort. He deserves it. Whatever he is given, he deserves that and more. And a quiet, snide little echo answered him. How convenient. Together they left the little room, heading for the interrogation chamber.
