Emotions Legend
Kat (Nov 14, 2002 12:49 p.m.): If she'd felt any less ill, repelling his worried survey would have been simple... but Kat was sick, no matter how much she tried to reason it away. She didn't have the strength to push him away, and hiding in her blankets was just about the only defense she had. He knew it, too, and although she mumbled protest at him, she knew he wasn't fooled. She let him curl around her, huddling closer to him when he made to hold her. It'd been easier to ignore it when he didn't know, but now that he was aware of how sick she was, it was all that more miserable. He stroked her hair, and Kat tried to pretend that she hadn't heard what he said. "You're not just tired." Am so. Can sleep it off. "You're sick, Kitten." I am not. Not sick. Just tired. "You need to see a doctor." No. I won't go, I won't. There's nothing wrong. "Notgonna," she muttered, trying to tug away from him but failing as he tightened his arms around her to keep her from escaping. "'mfine..." The sudden movement made her stomach turn, and Kat had to claw at him until he let her go. She immediately fell off the bed and bolted toward the bathroom, and it was a good five minutes later that she finally emerged and slumped in the doorway, too tired to walk back to the bed. Mode came and picked her up, wrapped the blankets around her again and laid her down, and Kat tried to be grateful, but it was too much of an effort. When he left her to call for the doctor, she didn't even protest. All she managed was a muffled hiss when the doctor appeared in their room, and a half-hearted swat at him when he started to draw blood from her arm. It scared her, being this weak, and Mode had to soothe her more than once when she tried to kick the physician away. It didn't matter, and it didn't help; he got his way, and when the other man left with promises to message them with the results, Kat sullenly withdrew from Mode and sulked in the comfort of her pillow. "Notsick," she protested again, and turned her back to him.
